'Gradam Grá' (Gift of love)

Tuesday, 05 December 2006

In September 2006, St. Michael’s launched its Mercy Mission to Mukuru. The school has identified a project in Nairobi, Kenya as the focus for the project. The work of St. Michael’s will be guided and support by the Sister of Mercy who have been involved in development work in Kenya for many years. St. Michael’s is fundraising to support a development project in the shanty town of Mukuru. Students have embraced the project enthusiastically and significant fundraising has already begun. With Christmas approaching, we hope to be able to add to our funds by encouraging students, parents and the wider community to support our project by purchasing Gift Certificates for the St Michael’s Mercy Mission to Mukuru. .

The certificates are themed on the old Irish phrase Gradam Gra – gift of love. They are available to purchase at the cost of £5, £10, £20, £50 and £100. They can be purchased through the students or directly from the school. A card will be issued to acknowledge receipt of your contribution. So if you are stuck for a gift idea this Christmas or you are looking for a present for a person who seems to have everything, then you might consider giving a “gift of love” by making a donation on their behalf to the Mukuru Fund. All monies collected will go directly to the project in Mukuru, nothing will be spent on administration. St. Michael’s is hoping for a generous response to the appeal and we thank in advance, all those who are able to support us in making our gift appeal a success.
