Due to poor weather forecast we decided we would bring half of our Sports day forward to Wednesday 20th June with all our outdoor events (100m, 200m, 800m, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Class Relay Races, Mixed doubles Tennis, 2 on 2 soccer, Penalty Kick, Poc Fada and Golf Drive) . This proved to be highly competitive with a few school records been matched (boys high jump 1.65m with Christopher Creaney) and our girls high jump being broken by Meabh Beatty, where she sets the new school record of 1.40m for girls. Ronan Kearney also set a new target for the boys 100m sprint with a time of 11.85sec. Congratulations goes to all students who competed in our serious athletic events on the Wednesday. On Friday 22nd we continued with our indoor and novelty events. This again seen a 90% attendance rate, with all students in attendance taking part for the first few events. The pupils really enjoyed the tug-o-war and the basketball knock out competitions, and some of them couldn't stay on their feet with the sack races and the 3 legged races Presentations were made by our own past pupil and Professional Boxer Stephen Haughian. Everyone who was placed in any of the events received a certificate. We finished with the announcement of our Female and Male Athlete of the Year Awards which went to Aoife McConville and Christopher Creaney. Congratulations goes to all in attendance and who took part, well done.
